Location
Used only in this browser to compute distances and nearby bias. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Backup
Ratings, visits, picks, local additions and deletions live in this browser’s localStorage. Back them up as XML, then merge them into another browser — merging adds imported data on top of what is already there rather than replacing it.
Danger zone
Removes ratings, history and locally added restaurants. The restaurants.xml file on the server is untouched.
How storage works here
restaurants.xml on the server is the canonical catalogue. This browser keeps your ratings, visit history, recent picks, session vetoes, and any restaurants you added locally until you export them. A static page cannot write files back to the server, so “export restaurants.xml” from the Catalogue view is the way to persist edits.
